WaterColor was developed by Arvida on approximately 499 acres in south Walton County, and its plan centers on Western Lake, a coastal dune lake that separates the community's beachfront section from its inland streets. The WaterColor Inn anchors the town's Gulf-front hospitality core, and a community boathouse on Western Lake gives owners canoe and kayak access onto the lake itself rather than only the Gulf. Camp WaterColor runs seasonal recreation programming, and the WaterColor Town Center adds shops and restaurants a short walk from the beach. Because Western Lake threads through the middle of the plan, WaterColor's homesites split cleanly into three types: Gulf-front and Gulf-view cottages along the dune line, lake-facing homes that look out over Western Lake instead of the Gulf, and inland streets set back from both.
