Living in Whispering Lake

Walton County's parcel layer files Whispering Lake under two plats. The original Whispering Lake Subdivision, recorded at Plat Book 17, Page 81, holds lots numbered 1 to 64 along Whispering Lake Drive, and the state's 2025 roll addresses four of them, lots 49 through 52, on Veterans Road instead. Whispering Lake First Addition, at Plat Book 18, Page 83, adds 21 lots on Lullaby Loop. That same roll gives Santa Rosa Beach as the site city for each parcel it lists on either plat.

The county commission voted 5 to 0 on July 25, 2006 to approve for recordation a final plat its minutes call Whispering Lakes Subdivision, described there as phases 1 and 2 of an 80-lot single-family subdivision on the east side of Veterans Road, north of US 98. Nearly seven years later, on February 26, 2013, the commission approved a plat development order application for Whispering Lakes Phase I covering 21 lots on 6.55 acres, subject to a letter confirming its infrastructure was finished. The parcel layer now carries 21 lots on the First Addition and 85 across both plats, five more than the 80 the 2006 minutes name; identify a lot by its recorded plat and lot number, not by either approval.

Every house the 2025 state roll dates here went up between 2011 and 2015, the first plat's from 2011 to 2013 and Lullaby Loop's from 2013 to 2015. On each plat, the parcel layer lists the streets and common areas under one parcel number owned by the Whispering Lake Homeowners Association. A county map layer of properties with a covenants and restrictions document on file ties both plats to one instrument, Official Records Book 2867, Page 1744, and its entry points on to three other Official Records entries as well.
